REPORT OF THE INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

2010 – 2011

During the summer of 2010, the membership application form was reviewed to ensure

all information was correct, including the chair of membership, the current address to

which the dues application forms and payments should be sent, and the accurate year

of membership. It was agreed upon by the board members that membership dues

should coincide with the academic year rather than the calendar year as previously

established. Therefore, beginning fall 2010, membership dues will cover the period of

time from September to August. The application forms were mailed out to everyone who

had been an individual member during the previous fiscal year.

A bulk mailing of application forms with a letter attached was mailed to the director of

each school of nursing asking that forms be distributed to all full and part time faculty,

and clinical adjuncts. These packages were mailed at the beginning of July 2010.

Receipt of membership dues began immediately.

As of April 15, 2011, we have a total of 39 paid individual members for the academic

year 2010-2011 which began on September 1, 2010. Total membership dues collected

for this period of time was $785.00. All members enjoy notification of organizational

programs and meetings, the right to vote for organization offices and kept abreast of

issues pertinent to the organization.

Respectfully submitted,

REPORT OF THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE

2010 – 2011

The Association of Diploma Schools of Professional Nursing provided two educational

programs during the 2010-2011 year. Michele Deck presented Know White and the 7

Learners Plus One on November 1, 2010. This program identified eight ways adults

process and remember information. Creative ways for reinforcing learning were

described. Evaluations were very positive.

For the Annual Meeting on May 6, 2011 Linda Caputi will present Engaging in

Curriculum Revision and the Concept Based Curriculum. This program will identify

curriculum revisions that will keep a program current and rigorous. A framework of

concepts for building a concept-based curriculum will be developed.

It was decided by the Executive Board to have only one educational program for the

2011 – 2012 year so that we are able to continue to have nationally known speakers.

Arrangements are being made for Barbara Bancroft to be the presenter at the May

meeting.
